The exciting thing, for me, is that it's not just new versions of some old favourites, but there are *new* songs included in the setlist, songs I haven't heard before. What do 'Coming Home', 'Coloured Rain', 'Omaha' or 'Lady Be Good', amongst others, sound like? Along with covers of 'Nights in White Satin' and 'Getting Better', and what is 'It's Alright Ma, It's Only Witchcraft'? It looks like there are some of the old Radio 1 jingles filling up the remainder of the first disc, which should be interesting to hear again.

For me personally, Salvo have released two absolute gems. The B-Sides Collection was the most exciting release since the 70's.
The Salvo catalogue with its sleeve notes and media, was a much needed breath of fresh air and The B-Sides gave us a special collection to look forward to. Although it was nothing that hadn't already been available on vinyl 45's.
This collection is different. This collection has never been available for public consumption before. Many of us have listened (often) to the FM radio broadcasts that were recorded by an enterprising student back in the early 70's. The tapes are awesome and have become an essential part of my collection. I probably play those recordings more than anything else.
What do 'Coming Home', 'Coloured Rain', 'Omaha' & 'It's Alright Ma, It's Only Witchcraft' sound like... absolutely brilliant. They are covers that were part of the bands set before they broke through. Listen to the originals and then be amazed at how Slade turned them in to something far more exciting.
'Lady Be Good' was Jimmy Lea's warm up spot to get his violin working for "Coz I Luv You". I believe it was a ('scuse spelling) Django Rheindhart & Steffan Grappelli number.
To have these made available at top notch quality, remastered and properly packaged with history and input from all concerned is the best I could have hoped for...
All I need now is for Salvo to license "The Genesis Of Slade" and add it to the official catalogue?
