Love Music Hate Racism is the current term for what, back in the olden days, was Rock Against Racism. It's 30 years since the Rock Against Racism/Anti-Nazi League march and festival in Victoria Park so Love Music Hate Racism is holding a celebratory carnival on 27 April to raise awareness again, presumably with the May elections in mind.Chris was there 30 years ago and recalls seeing big bands at the time, like the Clash, X-Ray Spex and Steel Pulse. The bill isn't quite so high flown this time and I haven't heard of any of the names mentioned so far apart from Jerry Dammers, Don Letts and ... Poly Styrene. Apparently, Poly is going to open the festival just as she did 30 years ago.
I might have to go if only to see the delightful Poly.
